The Recreation Director serves the Town of Rivers, the R.M. of Daly, the Town of Rapid City, the R.M. of Saskatchewan, and the R.M. of Blanchard with offices located in Rivers and Rapid City.
Programs currently being offered are arts and crafts, sports, cultural programs, and sports clinics with a particular focus on children seven and older in addition to various programs offered to adults. Rivers has also added 2 new soccer pitches, located at the Millenium Park. They were built in 2002, and have been an remarkable asset to the Rivers Soccer League.
The Riverdale Golf & Country Club is located approximately 7 km (4.5 miles) southwest of the Town of Rivers. This nine-hole course has grass greens, rolling hills, and numerous sand traps and water hazards. Cart rentals are available. The clubhouse offers a licensed dining room which seats approximately 75 people, plus a patio area. Call 328-7122 to book your tee time.
The Riverdale Community Gardens has bleacher seating for approximately 250 people, a viewing area with seats for approximately 75 people, artificial ice, concessions, and four large change rooms. Recent renovations to the bleacher seating were completed. In the winter, there are a number of hockey tournaments and skating carnivals. During the summer the complex is used for a variety of events such as dances, special events for gatherings in excess of 250 people, a youth drop-in center, and an annual volleyball tournament. Structural concerns have recently brought about the need of construction work to keep the facility operational until plans for a new complex have been finalized. The Rivers Curling Club is located just south of the railway tracks, at the north end of Rivers Industrial Park. It contains six sheets of artificial ice. The main floor contains a smoke free waiting room and a canteen. The downstairs has a licensed facility with change rooms. The 2007 Junior Mens Provincial Target Championships brought about some spiffy upgrading to the facility by countless volunteers in the community. The Rivers Lake Provincial Park, located 1.6 km (1 mile) east of the Town of Rivers on the west side of Lake Wahtopanah, has a variety of outdoor activities one can enjoy. The lake offers ample opportunities for fishing, swimming, sailing, sun bathing, water skiing, or boating. In particular, you may want to explore the shoreline by canoe, as Wahtopanah means 'canoe people'! The campground consists of 30 campsites, 20 overflow sites, and 19 seasonal sites. Electrical and non-eletrical serviced sites available (visit the above website for more info). While at the campgrounds, take in a game of miniature golf, try out the beach volleyball court or the playground. The area also contains a concession stand.
THE R.M. OF DALY PARK (CHIMO BEACH) is located about 3 km (2 miles) east of Rivers along the southeasterly side of Lake Wahtopanah just off of P.T.H. #25. At this park, there is a picnic area, swimming area with washrooms and running water, as well as a boat dock and a boat launch. Lions Park is located adjacent to the bridge on P.T.H. #25 and downstream from the dam on Lake Wahtopanah. The Cenotaph Park is located in downtown Rivers next to the Legion Hall. It was built to honor the soldiers who gave their lives in Battle. All of these parks are excellent places to have a picnic under the shade of the nearby trees and enjoy the great outdoors. A Millennium Park is currently being built. This park is located to the east of Rivers, just north of Highway #25.
THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PLAYGROUND is equipped with swings, plenty of climbing areas, a slide, paved basketball courts, and three ball diamonds. Paved basketball courts can also be found at the high school grounds.
The newly constructed RIVERS' KIDS PARK is a wonderful park for children as well. This lovely treed park is securely fenced and great for smaller children.
RIVERS SKATEPARK, located next to the Rivers' Kids Park is now completed and is a significant attraction for the youth in this community and beyond!
THE DOWNTOWN POCKET PARKS are ideal spots to enjoy your lunch, coffee or just sit and chat! Developed by the Rivers In Bloom with community support these two pocket parks are beautifully designed, landscaped and tucked neatly next to Lee's Restaurant and Super Thrifty Drug Mart.
Three baseball diamonds are located on the northwestern end of the Agricultural Fairgrounds and immediately west of the local high school in Rivers. All of these diamonds are used to accommodate the minor hardball and softball clubs in and around the Rivers area.
There are two tennis courts with asphalt surfaces located to the northwest of the elementary school grounds.
This 22 meter (72 feet) high dam was constructed in 1960, creating a reservoir which is now known as Lake Wahtopanah. Lake Wahtopanah is approximately 10 km (6 miles) long, 610 meters (2,000 feet) wide, and has a total surface area of 689 hectares (1,700 acres).
The Aspen Trail, located to the east of the Town of Rivers, was developed in 1999. This 6.4 km (4 mile) long hiking trail has a packed gravel surface, great for walking or biking. This scenic wilderness trail begins at the south east side of Rivers at the newly developed Millenium Park and winds it way east to the nearby Provincial Park and back. The Aspen Trail is wheelchair accessible.

Many people like to fish off the banks of the Little Saskatchewan River or from the shores of Lake Wahtopanah. Some of the different types of fish found in the area include walleye, perch, and northern pike. Anglers have been known to catch northern pikes in excess of 10kg (22lbs) and walleye weighing in excess of 5kg (11lbs). We have access to the Lake from three boat launches: Daly Beach, Brandon Wildlife Dock, and the Provincial Park Dock.
Deer hunting, duck hunting, and goose hunting are very popular in this area. The valleys and ravines found in the area provide excellent coverage for both large and small wildlife. For this reason, the area is known for its large deer.
